Mr. Sorrell entered Indiana University School of Law (Bloomington), and graduated with a JD. While in law school, Rick spent 2 years working for United States Congressman Mike Sodrel. Rick attended functions with the Congressman, served as a policy analyst, drafted position statements, and answered the concerns and needs of the residents of the district. After law school, Rick and his wife Roberta decided to return to the Charlotte area, and Rick worked for a small law office in Charlotte, where he got to see many facets of the legal profession. In time, he went to work for the litigation department of a large Uptown Charlotte firm. While he freely admits that there was initially a certain excitement to riding the elevators to the top of a fancy skyscraper every morning, Rick missed the feeling of being able to help people and the close personal contact that can be had in a small office. (That being said, some of the probably-grossly-overpriced paintings in the offices of the large firm were interesting.)
